Do we, the dogowners, get fleeced?
No dogowner really thinks about the legitimacy
of the dog license fee. However, Germany is one of the few
European countries where one has to afford this unjust fee.
France, the United Kingdom, Danemark, Sweden, Belgium, Spain,
Italy, Greece, Hungary, and Kroatia – they all set a good
example – no dog license fee in these countries! And what
about our country? The most extreme example is Stuttgart, where
one has to pay 108 € for the first dog (no matter whether
it’s a small or a big dog), from the second dog on, the fee
doubles (= 216 €). So, owning 3 dogs costs the dogowner 540
€ there. We think: that’s enough, there’s no worse!... |

insecurity for the whelp (as well as for the front-seat
passenger). One has to plan everything, the correct style of
driving can be learned. It’s very important that the dog feels
that driving by car is something comfortable
– something that can also be practiced... Read further in the YTJ 50 |

Peak season for ticks and fleas
Since the dogs live with us in our appartments,
we have flea season the whole year through. The season of the
ticks is limited. For most of the dogs, having fleas is
uncomfortable but it doesn’t represent a serious problem for
the dog’s health. Exceptions are very young and weak animals
which can suffer from anemia when being infected by too much of
these parasites... Unlike fleas, ticks, which belong to the
spider animals, do have a season from the beginning of march to
the end october. Because of the fact that these little nuisances
can communicate different dangerous diseases, one has to be very
serious about looking for the right protection. There’s a lot
to do against thees parasites, but seeking through the dog’s
fur after a walk through the wood remains indispensable ... |
